TWU Computer Lab Policy

Appropriate use of the
TWU Student Computer Lab (TWUSCL)

(Revised Dec. 4th 2002)

As you enter this computer lab, please personalize the following commitments:

I will at all times respect the copyright of software authors and my fellow student's work. Furthermore, I will not install or run any software that has not been provided for my use in the TWUSCL.

I guarantee that all materials I submit for marking are entirely my own original work, created by me personally for the course for which they are submitted.

I will respect the time and property of others who use the student computer lab facility by making efficient use of my time while I am here.

I will not view objectionable material, play online games, or create disturbances (playing loud music, talking for extended time on cell phones, etc.) and will insure that my overall conduct is guided by respect for others.

I will not bring food or drinks into the TWUSCL.

I understand that the teaching assistants (TA's) have essentially the status and authority of faculty for the purpose of supervising the labs, and that they should be respected accordingly. They have a primary duty to assist those students who have paid computer lab fees for TWU courses that require the lab. Some examples of these courses are: BUSI221, CMPT122, COMM230, etc.

I understand that the computer lab is intended for TWU student use that is TWU course related. I will not use the lab facilities for generating profit. I agree to the following priority of equipment use during congested times: a) lab assignments, b) general assignments, c) email etc.

I agree to pay for the cost of all printing I do in the lab.

I have read, and agree to the TWU community standards.

I understand that my continued use of this computer lab facility depends on my accepting these conditions, with all their implications, and enforcing them in my conduct.
